Practical Happiness

While cleaning my bookshelf the day of others, I found a book, 14,000 Things To Be Happy About. It looks brand new, but the date has been inside many years ago. This book sitting next to my collection of self-help books, which however have been dehorned, clearly emphasized and used. Taking the book of happiness, I wondered why I had not used. I realized that I thought happiness was something ephemeral and unable to improve my life.

Recently, my beliefs have changes after that I learned. I found that to be happy, happy, positive and have the skills that can be learned with practice and determination. Therefore, I decided to start my own journey to learn the happiness and joy have been rewarded. Here are a few things I learned during my trip and the activities that helped teach me more about happiness:

Recognize the good times hidden in one day.

When something wonderful happens to us, we know we are usually happy. It is the common moments of all days of happiness elude us often. One way to change that is becoming intentionally aware when we feel happy during the day.

I found an activity that helped me and it may also help. It's very simple: you need a notebook or tape recorder and keep trace moments of happiness you notice during your day. In the writing or recording them, you become aware of those moments that would otherwise go unnoticed.

One such moment occurred for me when I was very late for an appointment and frustrated, it's all red lights. While I sat fuming at the latest stop, I noticed a small boy on the school bus next to me making faces on stupid people. Looking at him I felt happy. I wrote this down time. He became one of the many happy moments that I recorded. How many moments of happiness you lack in your day? Try them out and see if you find your day is better for him.

Make a conscious change from negative to positive.

It is difficult to feel happy when you focus on the negative. As a large pimple on our face, what we do does not seem to be much clearer than what we do. Unfortunately, the more we focus on the negative, the more likely it is everything we see. This modification means that we consciously bring more attention to positive things that happen to us.

This can be done in different ways. You can keep a daily diary of the good or positive things that happened in your day or you can match the negative comments you make on your day or yourself with something positive. If you are not aware of your negative comments, give a friend or your partner leave ask what was positive about your day.

The idea is to focus less on what went wrong and more about what has past right. By drawing attention to positive things that happened, I noticed the negative things seem less important.

Bring humor into your day.

There is nothing like a good laugh or smile to trigger happiness. Let me start my day with a clip funny video. I kept one on my computer about cats doing stupid things. As I like cats, this clip always makes me laugh, even if I 've seen tons of times. Be creative about it and whatever use makes you laugh, like the newspaper comics, joke favorite, or a ridiculous image.

Starting my day with a laugh, I found I feel much happier. In addition, humor can be used again and again during the day, whenever you need a laugh. Try to put more humor into your day and see if you feel happier.

Practice, practice and practice more!

Requests for practice new skills and happiness is learning no different. We must work every day until it becomes part of your daily ritual. Therefore, try activities I suggested or create your own. Just keep practicing. The reward is worth it! As you give more attention to feel happy you will also increase your total wellbeing.

For myself, I seek new ways to keep the happiness of a constant force in my life. Of course, there are still times I feel angry or sad, and that's okay. But now, I also pay attention when I feel happy. I happiness also practice regularly. The book, 14,000 Things To Be Happy About, I found it on my shelf now part of the practice. I am convinced that it will soon look like chipped, marked and used as my old self-help books. This is another step in my journey learning of happiness.
